Community Involvement near Bunnell, FL
At Halifax Plantation Dental Spa, Dr. Jennifer Fraser, D.M.D and our entire dental team are committed to giving back to the community. We’re constantly seeking opportunities to get involved and to help people in need who do not have access to quality dental care. One of our favorite events is the Florida Mission of Mercy, a free two-day dental clinic for low- and no-income people which is held each year in Jacksonville and run entirely by volunteers.
The Florida Mission of Mercy: Helping our neighbors one smile at a time
The goal of the Mission of Mercy, the dental clinic for the underserved in our community, is to screen, diagnose, and treat 3,000 patients over one weekend. It is held in the Prime Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville. This year, over 1,100 volunteers plus 500 dentists, hygienists, assistants, and students took part in the two-day event that was held in April. More than $2 million in care was provided this year…at absolutely no cost to those who needed it.
The services provided by Dr. Fraser and the other volunteers who attended the event included cleanings, fillings, extractions, partial dentures, root canals, oral health education, and x-rays. It’s the general and restorative care that people need most to maintain healthy teeth for a lifetime.
Strengthening Smiles, Changing Lives
As dental professionals, we know that chronic tooth pain, gum disease, tooth decay, and dental phobias are barriers to a successful, productive life. For thousands of patients who don’t have regular access to quality dental care, the Florida Mission of Mercy is a truly life-changing resource. To learn more about the event, click here.
